That workout sounds familiar, Gym Jones maybe? I like the structure. I've seen KTE done with several different ROM, what defines a Paper Street KTE? A few months ago I just went to Ankles To Bar after seeing mtnathlete do it that way.
The WODs I've done with KTE have left something to be desired. I always spike my heart rate, only to be slowed by this movement. Maybe my "core" strength is just lacking but, it just slows everything down.
CF movements are supposed to move a load a long distance very quickly. Not sure if KTE meets that standard...
Goob, Pat, and I were at one point doing a workout for time involving KTE that looked like this: 3 Rounds 5 Pullups 10 KTE 15 Pushpress @ 65 20 Pushups 25 Squats It was a great workout that could be completed in the low 7 min range but when done for time there was too much controversy on the "correct" way to do KTE. We ended up all agreeing that KTE are a controlled core exercise and that the benefits are only fully experienced when there is no swing or kip. It's a grind on the way down and will tax the crap out of your core and shoulders if you go down in a controlled manner that keeps your body from swinging. Then the discussion turned to how far to bring the knees up and that's when I read mtnathlete and he said there's no way to cheat if you just bring your ankles to the bar. My point is this, KTE or Ankles To Bar are both incredible exercises but neither are a good fit for a timed, crossfit style, circuit.
